As I was pregnant I failed to think of one possible side effect of breast feeding....a clogged milk duct!! Ahh the terror. I have already gotten sick twice. The first time wasn't terrible. It wasn't fun...but not terrible. The second time was awful. I started feeling sick 4th of july night (the night of the picture above.) By the time we got home from this event I was miserable with a temp of 101. I never get sick!! I had the chills and a fever and a splitting headache. Good thing I have an amazing husband who let me sleep for a long time!! (he even skipped going skiing for me...quite the sacrifice) It didn't take long for me to get over it. It was pretty much done with middle of the day Sunday. Good thing this happened on the weekend while Dan was here to help me or both he and I would have been miserable.
Lana in her Fourth of July outfit!!!

Other than the fact that I got sick towards the end the 4th was pretty fun. We went to gas works park on Lake Union in Seattle. They have an amazing fireworks show every year. We played scrabble for a couple of hours on our blanket with a plentiful supply of mike n'Ikes. It was pretty late for Lana to be up but we figured we had to make an exception for the 4th of July!!! The only part that really bothered me having her there was how loud they had the stereo. I was afraid it was going to bust her eardrums. So, we kept her ears covered when they had it really loud.

I have been reading this book my mom sent me for my birthday. It is called, "These is my words." It is based off of real journal entries from the author's ancestors. It is set back in the days when the west was being settled. I am just reminded what a spoiled rotten brat I am. Their lives were so hard and they endured so much. I need to be better at appreciating all of the conveniences I have in my life and the things I always have available (like food and water) Anyways, Its a really good book. I definitely recommend it.
This is Lana and I having a good ole' family nap...haha. I don't think I could ever sleep in that position.

We discovered a new park in the Seattle area. (see pic below) We have been going to Lincoln park or Alki Beach. This one (Seahurst park) is a bit closer. Can't say I like it as much as Alki or Lincoln but if we just want to get somewhere quick. We seem to go to parks alot. It's probably our # 1 activity except eating out....I know, I know bad habit.... we are trying to cut it down...sort of. We just go and walk and play games. Mostly scrabble. haha I always win (except once) :(

Babies can sleep anywhere!!
