This!! Dan's 27th Birthday is August 14th. I will be on vacation with Lana and my family in Wyoming then. So, I wanted to make sure I did something special for Dan before I left.
I am friends with the apartment manager, Heather. I asked her if she would be willing to let us have dinner on the roof of our 5 story apartment complex. It has a great view! So I set up what you see here.
I got his favorite root beer and his favorite meal....Famous Daves ribs! (a whole slab...he usually just gets a half slab)
Heather babysat Lana. I made Dan close his eyes and we got in the elevator. I told him I had a surprise for him downstairs; then I made him sing Yankee Doodle so he wouldn't notice the elevator was going up. He was really confused when we got upstairs and he could see more natural light than he thought he should. I led him out to the roof and told him to open his eyes. He was so surprised! I know he never guessed this is what I had been planning. I could tell he really loved it. Surprising Dan is the best thing ever! He has such great reactions.

Present # 1. When we went to the new mall the other day Dan was drooling over these. We didn't get them because they were about 100 dollars. I know some people don't think that is that bad but I do!! I have never spent that much on shoes! I gave up my August allowance so I could justify it. They are a good compromise between the teenager skate shoes he wants and a little bit more adult athletic shoes.

These are road bike shorts. They have padding in all the right places; namely where you sit. He is checking out the padding in this picture. These will keep him from being sore.
It was a great night. I think it is my favorite dinner we have ever had. Happy Birthday DAN!!!
