Lana turned 1 today!!! I can't believe it has already been a year. I feel like I was just barely holding a newborn all night and crying because I was so tired! Luckily, the no sleep phase only lasted about a month.
She is the favorite part of my days. I get so excited in the morning when I can hear her talking to herself and know I get to go in there in a minute. She always gives me the cutest, cheesiest smile!
Below is my masterpiece! I think this is the first cake I have ever made that actually turned out 1/2 way decent. Usually, when I try to make them pretty...they end up looking the opposite. The frosting reminds me of the pretend food on the movie "HOOK". Don't ya think?
We had the perfect amount of people show up. Our apartment isn't exactly the most spacious so, if we would have had anymore I think we all would have felt crowded. 
After we ate fruit and muffins, we had story time. I'm pretty sure only the adults were listening. haha All the kids were distracted with other things. I read The Three Little Pigs. 
Lana got lots of good gifts like stuffed animals, books, toys, and of course clothes. Thanks to all those who came and made this even more fun for us!

We decided in this picture she was really just telling us that she was one...not picking her nose.
The culminating event was, of course, the cake. We were hoping she would do it justice...and she did! She very effectively destroyed it. At first, she didn't know what to think of it. She would touch it and then look very confused. But after I gave her a little taste, she dug in.

After everyone left, Lana took a nap. We were going to go to the zoo when she woke up but, it was raining. So, we went to the next best thing.....Petsmart ;)! We had fun showing Lana the fish, birds, snakes, lizards, dogs, and cats. She especially love the cats and said, "ki!, ki! ki!" the whole time we were looking at them. Every single cat I touched in there either hissed at me or scratched me!
Then we had to go to a birthday dinner.... We went to Azteca. We always look for an excuse to go out to eat.
